Separates zinc from copper-zinc brass scrap under vacuum. Copper stays in the crucible and is tapped clean; zinc is distilled off and recovered as metal, not as oxide dust.
Zinc is drawn off as vapour and condensed back into saleable metal, so you are not losing it into the baghouse.
With the zinc removed, the copper stays inside the crucible and is tapped at a grade you can sell without discount.
Vacuum separation replaces the separate melting and dressing steps, cutting both energy and labour per tonne.
Values marked as approximate are typical for a standard build; final ratings are confirmed in the technical agreement for your order.
Need a different capacity, frequency or configuration? We build non-standard units.
| Processing principle | Vacuum distillation — zinc evaporates and is condensed back into metal |
|---|---|
| Feed materials | Brass scrap, copper-zinc mixed material, zinc-bearing residues |
| Metal recovery | Copper retained in the crucible; zinc recovered; gold and silver recovered with the copper |
| Model | SMJD-3000T / SMJD-6000T |
| Typical capacity | SMJD-3000T: 2+ tonnes per batch; SMJD-6000T: 4+ tonnes per batch |
| Cycle time | Aluminium-zinc: approx. 3 hours per batch. Copper-zinc: approx. 3 batches per 24 hours (varies with material, typically ±1 hour) |
| Output | Throughput depends on the feed material and the charge weight — the final rating is agreed in the technical specification |
| Energy consumption | Approx. 700–900 kWh per tonne |
| Installed power | 300–500 kW, built to order |
| Power supply | IGBT digital induction power supply; approx. 15% less energy than the previous control cabinet |
| Transformer | 500 kVA |
| Working temperature | Approx. 1100 °C measured at the thermocouple |
| Furnace chamber temperature | Up to 1400 °C in the furnace chamber (thermocouple reads approx. 1100 °C) |
| Pump-down time | Approx. 5 hours to reach working vacuum |
| Vacuum level | 10–65 Pa (manufacturer catalogue figure; measurement point and method to be confirmed in the technical specification) |
| Furnace type | Vertical or hydraulic tilting design, built to order |
| Crucible | Graphite-silicon carbide; 30–80 heats (depends on ramming practice); replacement approx. CNY 20,000 / approx. 2 days |
| Cooling | Open-circuit cooling tower: approx. 150 T for SMJD-3000T, approx. 180 T for SMJD-6000T |
| Separation result | Copper product: approx. 1% residual zinc. Zinc product: ≤1% residual copper |
| Gold & silver | Gold and silver report to the copper; overseas feed typically approx. 3 g Au and 500 g Ag per tonne |
| Export destinations | Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Russia, Kazakhstan and more |
| Lead time | 35 working days (custom built) |
| Minimum order | 1 set |
| Trial run | RMB 8,000 per run (chargeable) |
| Commissioning | Site supervision by our engineers on request — chargeable service |
